Nov. 12-14, Camp Cresge, PA

This Year at Head for the Hills!

We will have a shuttle van (courtesy of Michelle Ochsner) to and from our northwest dance hall.  In rain or shine, if you feel the need for a ride, please take advantage of our "Seattle Shuttle," ably driven by Tara Murch.

Camp Harlam management has required that we arrive for meals on time and that all food and dishes be returned to the kitched one half hour later.  You are welcome to linger over coffee, tea or cocoa and visit as long as your like, after food dishes are cleared.

Our glittering cocktail party once again will be in the dining hall.   You can continue dancing and swinging while dinner is served.

Lynda Lee is coordinating a parent/child care co-op for children 1-6 years old.   Parents who want to participate should contact Lynda at the number on the information sheet.

Arrival Time: You are welcome any time after 5:00 pm.  (Set-up and welcome people may arrive earlier).  Friday dinner: Served from 7:00 to 7:30 pm.   If you are running late, stop for fast food or eat dance refreshments.

Linens etc: Bring sheets, towels, pillow-cases, and blankets.   Some pillows and blankets are available but bring your own for guaranteed comfort.

Also bring: soap, boots or shoes for walking between building, bad weather gear, flashlight, alarm clock and your rubber ducky.  (Rule of thumb: if you need it, bring it.)

DANCE SHOES: cannot be leather-soled, can only be soft, non-marking bottoms, to protect the beautiful wooden floor.  You must carry your dance shoes to all sessions.  There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.

Dance and cocktail party food: We want our weekend to feature delectable goodies, so please plan to bring something special for your dancing friends.
Last names A-L: Dessert or healthy snacks for the dance refreshments.
Last names M-Z: Savory, scrumptious, filling, finger food for the cocktail party.  Be creative!
All names: invited to bring BOOZE, mixers or toher beverages for the cocktail party.

The Silent Auction will be in the Maine dance hall this year.  We help keep our costs down by raising money through our silent auction which Ken Samoil is chairing this year.  Contribute special clothing, interesting objects, and/or services.  Please suggest a minimum bid.   (Shoppers will settle accounts during the Sunday afternoon dance with check or cash.)  Questions?  Call Ken ONLY from 7-10 in the evenings at the number on the flyer.

Be working on your uproarious, outrageous, unforgettable, ready for the "all time favorite" century's greatest list of Ceilidh acts.  The ceilidh will be MC'd this year, as only he can, by Lorenzo the Magnificent, a.k.a. Larry Koplik.  If you need to ask him questions, call him at the number on the flyer.

Pick-up band: Robert LaRue will lead the Saturday-night pick-up band for contra dancing.  Bring your instruments, stand, tune-books, music for some old favorites, etc.

Sunday morning we will have one long workshop session instead of two shorter ones, as in the past.  This will enable us to have all the rest of our Sunday activities--chamber music, the silent auction finale, the afternoon dance--and still vacate the camp by 4:00 pm, as the camp has required.

Workshops: Our program chairs, Trish Petzold and Susie Lorand, have scheduled an extra, special-interest workshop on Saturday morning (including Scottish National Dance) and workshops on Saturday afternoon opposite the Big English.  For those who do prefer an alternate to an afternoon of English dance, we will offer Intermediate Clogging, Story Telling, The Salon with afternoon tea and conversation--hostess Ellen Harrison--on topics ranging from current affairs to songs you hate to admit you love, prize to the best Oscar Wilde look-alike.

Sunday evening en route home, as many as will may continue partying at the conveniennt, inexpensive King Buffet at the junction of Routes 78 and 31 in Clinton, NJ.  We will take a head count Sunday afternoon.

Phones at camp: The only phone is in the dining hall and answered during meals only: (717) 629-1390.  Tech junkies, workaholics, or simply those who need to be in touch with someone outside camp: please bring your own cell phones, beepers, etc.

Kids Activities:
In addition to the activities above in which children are welcome to participate, there are outdoor baskerball courts, soccer field, areas for rollerblading (no skateboarding).   If children roller blade, they must wear knee-pads, elbow pads, and helmets! We will have Saturday afternoon sports, organized as last year by Sam and Cal Dupre.

During evening dances and the Sunday afternoon dance, older children are invited to use the living room under the main dance hall for board games, reading, playing cards, and general hanging out.  We'll provide some snacks and goodies.  NO ADULTS ALLOWED.   So kids, bring your favorite stuff.

Parents are responsible for monitoring their children at all times, even the older kids.
