Head for the Hills is Princeton Country Dancers' getaway weekend.  This annual retreat will occur on November 10-12 at Camp Harlam in the Poconos with its wonderful dance floors and comfortable cabins.  The location is near Kresgeville, PA, about a 2-hour drive from Princeton or 1.5 hours from Philadelphia.  Camp Harlam has two large dance halls with great wood floors and smaller rooms for workshops and jamming.  The modern rooms are double or quadruple occupancy with private or semi-private baths.  Meals are served family-style in a large dining room.

Our musicians, callers, workshop leaders, and coordinators pool their talents and energy to make this a fantastic weekend for adults and children alike.  This year's terrific staff includes Raise the Roof, Scott Higgs, A Band Named Bob, Janet Mills, A Joyful Noise, The Free Radicals, and a lot more.  The Princeton pick-up band (open to anyone) plays for the Saturday night dance.  Activities include daily contra dances, a long English dance, tune swap, jamming, our fabulous ceilidh (talent show), an oh-so-elegant cocktail party, a chamber music mini-concert, various workshops, and couple dancing.

Attendance is encouraged for children and teenagers.  Because we enjoy them so, and because we don't want them just drifting around all weekend, we have enriched our programming for youth and children to include Kid's Band, skit, sports and workshops.  Those young people who can and want to are welcome in adult workshops and at dances.  In addition, there will be workshops geared to specific children's age groups.  As many as 20 children sometimes attend the weekend.

We will have coordinated, co-op childcare again this year for children under 6.   Co-op chair Lynda Lee will contact participating parents to set up a schedule.   In this way, you should not have to miss your favorite workshops or dances.   However, the childcare co-ordinator will not personally babysit if there is no co-op coverage for a particular time slot.  Remember, the ultimate responsibility for your children is still yours.

Fees for the weekend are: Adult  $140,  Children 3-6  $60,   Children 7-18  $100.
