EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW . . .
THE WEEKEND: Once again this year Princeton Country Dancers will be
dancing and making music at Camp Harlam, near Kresgeville, in the Poconos. Camp
Harlam is about a 2-hour drive from Princeton and a 90-minute drive from
Philadelphia. The camp features a large dance hall with excellent wood floors
and smaller rooms for workshops and jamming. The modern rooms are double or
quadruple occupancy with private or semi-private bathrooms. Meals are served
family style in a large dining room.
Last year we had over 20 children
at Head for the Hills. To make the weekend fun and enriching for our younger
friends, we offer music and dance-related activities for youngsters. Young
people who can do so are welcome to join adult activities and dances.
KIDS’ BAND: Louise
McClure is the conductor for the Kids’ Band again this year and needs advance
notice of who expects to participate (please indicate on your registration
form). SILENT AUCTION: Do you
have stuff in your closets and on your bookshelves that you no longer need? Or
maybe you have a skill for which someone would be willing to pay? Every year we
hold a silent auction to support Head for the Hills. Help us continue at Camp
Harlam and maintain our low weekend price by contributing to the Silent Auction.
This year the auction is being coordinated by Debbi Kanter. For more
information, call Debbi at 609-882-7733.
SCHOLARSHIPS: We are experimenting with offering a limited amount of
needs-based financial aid this year. To apply, indicate that you are applying
for financial aid on your registration form, and send in your registration in
the normal manner, but without any money. Then, call Robert Lupton or Lynda Lee
at 609-466-2431 to get a scholarship application by mail, or go to http://www.princetonol/groups/pcd/headforthehills.html
to get an application
online. Send in your application by September 20. You will be notified of any
awards and the amount of your adjusted registration fees by October 1.
