Cancelled: 2021 Winter Cotillion
Update: This dance has been cancelled due to concernes about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. We will continue to reassess the safety of the situation for Mercer county and the surrounding areas. More details about our current safety policies can be found on our home page.
The Cotillion is the dressiest event on our calendar, but don't feel compelled to dress up. A potluck with mood lighting, performances from the Cotillion Singers and our ritual dance teams, even some group participation in carol singing will be interspersed with regular contra and English country dancing.
Mistress of Ceremonies: Sue Dupré (planned for 2020 cotillion)
Band: Raise the Roof- Mat Clark, Judi Stellar, Bob Pasquarello, Kathy Talvitie (planned for 2020 cotillion)
5 pm: Candlelit Potluck Dinner
6:30 pm: seasonal entertainment by local dance teams and carol singing for all
7-10 pm: Contra and English country dancing with a concert by The Cotillion Singers
Bring a potluck item or a ready-to-serve dessert for the break!
Admission $17, Students/Limited Income $10-$17
Note: This event will not be held in our regular dance hall. It will be at the Trinity Cathedral, 801 West State Street, Trenton, NJ.
February Fling 2022

This is normally an All-day Skilled English country dance, jointly sponsored by PCD and the Lambertville Country Dancers. For 2022, February Fling will be an evening-only dance.

Evening Dance 7:30-10:30
Admission is by advance registration only, and typically sells out in January, so register ASAP! No walk-ins are accepted, but there is usually a waiting list for those registering late. Please see the flyer and registration form below to apply. (Flyer coming soon!)
Dances will be minimally taught and prompted. The Fling program is designed for experienced English country dancers. “Experienced” means that you know well the standard figures of English country dancing. You can skillfully execute casts and leads, gates, single and double figures of eight, standard and draw poussettes, as well as all manner of heys (circular, mirror and dolphin). You are on time for each move, can assist your partner and neighbor, and can recover quickly from mistakes — while having fun!
Requirements for admission to the dance:
~One-time showing of proof of vaccination, eg a CDC card, an Excelsior Pass, etc.
~One-time signing of waiver provided by SPC
~Every dance: signing a Covid screening questionnaire provided by SPC
~A mask must be worn
~No refreshments provided, other than a water jug to refill your water bottle.

The PCD Executive Committee has decided to suspend the upcoming scheduled dances for the foreseeable future, starting with the dance on Wed, August 4. More details about this decision can be found on the home page of our website under "Community News."

3:00 Afternoon Dance for EXPERIENCED DANCERS
6:00 Potluck Supper. Bring a substantial dish to share; drinks provided by PCD.
7:00 Contra Dance Basics Workshop/Warm-up. A fun intro to contra dance basics. Everyone welcome.
7:30 Costume Parade & Dance. Parade immediately followed by contra dancing for all till 11:00, costumes encouraged!
9:00 Refreshment Break. Contributions (sweets, fruit, savory and salty snacks) gratefully accepted
An afternoon dance, a potluck dinner, a costume parade, the Basics Workshop, and the evening dance, complete with dessert break!
Prices: All day/ afternoon only/ evening only
General admission: $30/ $16/ $18
Students/limited income: $18-30/ $11-16/ $13-18
Children: $12/ $7/ $7

Cancelled: Head for the Hills 2021

The following information was posted on the Head for the Hills Facebook group: The Head for the Hills committee has sadly concluded that we cannot hold Head for the Hills in 2021, but we are looking forward to being able to dance, sing, play music, and socialize in November 2022.

November 12-14, 2021
A full weekend of contra and English country dancing, as well as workshops in several other folk and traditional dance styles. You can expect great bands, callers, and instructors; live music; a special Saturday evening banquet with partner dancing; an evening ceilidh in the main hall; campfire (with singing); and wonderful friendships to develop.
